AI Chat Exporter does not collect, store, or transmit any personal identification information (PII) or usage data to external servers.

The extension functions by reading the content of the currently active web page (your chat session) securely within your browser for the sole purpose of formatting it into a file (Markdown/JSON) and saving it to your local Downloads folder.

2. Permissions

The extension requires the following permissions to function:

activeTab: Allows the extension to interact with the active page when launched by the user to extract chat content.
Storage: Used strictly to save your local preferences (e.g., preferred export format, image toggles) within your browser profile. This data is kept 100% offline and is not synced to any servers.
Host Access (Match Patterns): Grants permission to run on specific AI chat platforms (including ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Qwen, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Meta AI, Z.ai, and Mistral) to read the conversation DOM and format the export.

3. Third-Party Services & Analytics

Browser Extension: The extension itself does NOT contain any third-party analytics, ads, tracking scripts, or telemetry beacons.

Documentation & Landing Website (ai-chat-exporter.covai.org): Our public website uses privacy-friendly, zero-cookie web analytics and session recording services with strict text masking to understand aggregate visitor counts, referrers, and documentation navigation. No personal data, prompt history, or chat exports are ever captured or transmitted.
